By far the most looked at and talked about bike at Pista Palace is The Kraken. And inevitably, everyone comments on the saddle. It is the Selle Italia c64. Full carbon. It actually weighs 76 grams and I'm not sure what the "64" stands for, but the idea is that it is extremely light and extremely uncomfortable. And I can agree with one of those statements, the one about the saddle being extremely light. Is it uncomfortable? How do you know unless you ride it? Because something looks a certain way doesn't always mean it is that way. I mean, do you really think that a bike with the name "Specialized" written on it is specialized in any way? Quite the contrary. I have done 110 miles on the C64 and it felt just as comfortable as my Aliante.
Luckily for you, that c64 carbon saddle is here at Pista Palace and waiting for you to demo. Free of charge. In fact, we have the entire line of Selle Italia saddles for you to try. We got Flights, Gel Flows, SLR's, carbon rails, Ti rails, I mean don't they have the most insane line availalbe? Too many choices. We "narrowed" it down to about 15 different ones, but we still offer the entire gamut. And we LOVE them. And we believe the shape is more important than the amount of or lack of padding.
Isn't it crazy and reckless to plunk down $100-$200 on a saddle without even have the opportunity to try it out? This thing is going BETWEEN YOUR LEGS! Anything that touches my loins needs to be researched and tested! You never know! It may look good but in the end you might end up having to see the doc! Well, now you are able to find out what suits your member or non-member whatever the case may be and have a pleasurable experience from the beginning. Its like an ironclad pre-nup!
With everything we choose to sell here, we really don't care about all the marketing bullshit. In the end, everything that we sell is tested, ridden, and proven by us and the race team we support. Do we truly care that Contador won the tour on a Selle Italia saddle? NO. Do we care that Selle Italia gets input from the hordes of races they sponsor? OK...you got our attention. Do we care that we find a Selle Italia saddle that works best for you? Absolutely! Of the contact points the saddle is the most important. Chinese bike, French bike, Italian bike...whatever....it will never be the best experience unless what you are sitting on is the best fit.
Selle Italia is Handmade in Italy since 1897. No saddle manufacturer has been around longer. Selle Italia was making saddles before Mussolini had his first bowl of Spaghetti! 112 years. Now that has to be some indication of passion. And to think that they are still the most creative and innovative saddle manufacturer is proof of their undying commitment to the sport of cycling and the evolution of performance. Not to knock Fi'zi:k, but they introduced an aluminum seat post this year. Not exactly groundbreaking. Do you know of Selle Italia's new monorail seat post? It is truly ingenious and we will have to be the first to try it out. Full carbon post to be integrated with several of their saddles. One rail.
When it comes to a saddle we urge you not to compromise. And with the ability to test any one of the myriad of saddles Selle Italia offers there is no need to.
